Output specs and load handling
The 6ES7322-1BH81-0AA0: 16 digital outputs, each rated 0.5 A continuous at 24 V DC, with a permissible supply range of 20.4 V to 28.8 V DC. The per-channel current limit is 3 A up to 60 °C, but the 0.5 A continuous rating is the figure that governs steady-state load selection — a solenoid bank or indicator lamp drawing 0.5 A per channel is within the module's thermal budget. Switching frequency is 100 Hz max on resistive or lamp loads; inductive loads are limited to 0.5 Hz. The inductive shutdown voltage is clamped to L+ (-48 V), which protects the output transistor from the flyback spike without an external freewheeling diode.
S7-300 form factor and isolation
Standard S7-300 dimensions: 40 mm wide, 125 mm high, 120 mm deep — it occupies one slot in the mounting rail and mates with a 20-pin front connector (ordered separately). The module draws up to 80 mA from the 5 V DC backplane bus and up to 120 mA from the load voltage L+ (without load). Channel-to-channel isolation is in groups of 8, with optocoupler isolation between the channels and the backplane bus. Isolation is tested at 500 V DC.
