64-Channel Output Density and Current Budget
The 6ES7322-1BP00-0AA0 packs 64 digital outputs into a 40 mm-wide S7-300 housing, each channel rated 0.3 A at 24 VDC nominal (20.4 V minimum permissible). Total module current is capped at 1.6 A up to 40 °C, derated to 1.2 A at 60 °C — that 0.4 A gap means a panel at 55 °C ambient loses 25 % of its aggregate drive capacity, so the load group must be planned around the derated figure, not the 40 °C ceiling.
Switching Duty and Load Type
Resistive-load switching is rated at 100 Hz max; inductive loads drop to 0.5 Hz, and lamp loads to 10 Hz — the inductive ceiling is the binding constraint for solenoid or contactor banks, where the flyback period dominates the cycle time. Short-circuit protection is electronic with a response threshold of 0.7 to 1.9 A typ, and the module lacks per-channel diagnostics (no wire-break, no fuse-blown, no diagnostic alarm). Signal "1" minimum is L+ (-0.5 V), and the module supports redundant control of a load — useful in safety-related shut-down paths where two outputs must both turn off to de-energise the load.
Lifecycle Status and Sourcing Reality
This module is classified EOL hot — no longer in active Siemens production, with no official successor order code published.
Panel Fit and Wiring Interface
Dimensions are 125 mm height, 40 mm width, 112 mm depth — the 40 mm width occupies two S7-300 slot positions on the DIN rail. Requires a 40-pin front connector from the cable or terminal-block families listed in the product drawing — the connector is ordered separately and determines whether field wiring lands on screw terminals or a pre-fabricated cable harness. Unshielded cable runs up to 600 m; shielded runs up to 1 000 m. Isolation tested at 500 V DC between channel groups of 16, with no isolation between individual channels.
