Ex(i) isolated output for hazardous areas
The 6ES7322-5SD00-0AB0: This SM 322 module provides four intrinsically safe (Ex(i)) digital outputs at 24 V DC, 10 mA per channel, designed to connect field devices in hazardous area Zones 0/1 and Div 1/2 locations. It carries FM marking for AIS CL.1, DIV 1, GP A, B, C, D and CL.I, DIV 2, GP A, B, C, D T4, plus ATEX marking [EEx ib] IIC with PTB test number Ex-96.D.2093X — so it is accepted in both North American and European hazardous-location installations.
Channel isolation and diagnostics
Each of the four outputs is galvanically isolated from the others in groups of one. Isolation voltage between channels is 60 V DC/30 V AC when used in the hazardous area, and 400 V DC/250 V AC when used in a non-hazardous area — a key distinction for wiring planning. Diagnostics are built in: a group error SF (red) LED, per-channel fault indicator (red), and per-channel status indicator (green). Diagnostic information is readable over the backplane bus, which saves commissioning time when a field device drops out.
Maximum unshielded cable length to the field device is 200 m. The module draws 85 mA from the 5 V DC backplane bus and up to 160 mA from the load voltage L+ (without load). Typical power loss is 3 W. Short-circuit protection is electronic and per-channel, with a response threshold at minimum 10 mA + 10 %. The module also has reverse polarity protection on the load voltage supply.
