S7-300 Analog Input Module — SM 331, 2×12 Bit
The Siemens 6ES7331-7KB81-0AB0 is an SM 331 analog input module providing 2 analog input channels with 12-bit resolution and galvanic isolation between channels and the backplane bus. Galvanic isolation means each input channel is electrically separated from the module's internal circuitry and the backplane — this prevents ground loops when the module is wired to field transmitters running on different power supplies, a common requirement in mixed-signal panels.
The SM 331 snaps onto the S7-300 DIN rail and communicates over the backplane bus — no separate fieldbus wiring needed for the analog data. The 2-channel density saves one slot compared to a 4-channel module if only two analog points are required.
