Protocol support and buffer capacity
Transmission rate is configurable from 0.3 kbit/s up to 76.8 kbit/s, with the top speed achievable only in half-duplex mode on the RS422/485 interface. The isolated RS422/485 interface (X.27) connects via a 15-pin sub-D connector and supports cable runs up to 1 200 m — suitable for distributed field devices across a plant floor.
Power draw and physical fit
The module draws 70 mA from the S7-300 backplane bus at 5 V DC and up to 240 mA from the external 24 V DC supply (L+, M, GND via three screw terminals). Maximum power loss is 5.8 W. Dimensions are 40 mm wide, 125 mm high, and 120 mm deep — it occupies one standard S7-300 slot width and mounts directly on the DIN rail in the enclosure. The configuration package is included on CD, and customer-specific drivers are reloadable via the 15-pin sub-D interface.
