Encoder input and cam track logic
The Siemens 6ES7352-1AH01-0AE0 is an FM 352 cam controller module for the S7-300 rack. It reads incremental encoders (symmetrical or asymmetrical) and absolute SSI encoders, and outputs cam signals based on programmed cam tracks. The encoder input frequency tops out at 50 kHz with a 25 m cable, dropping to 25 kHz at the full 100 m cable length — so if your application runs a high-speed encoder at the far end of a long cable, budget the lower frequency limit.
Digital I/O and signal levels
The module provides 4 digital inputs and 13 digital outputs. Inputs accept 24 VDC nominal, with a Signal "1" threshold of +11 to +30 V and a Signal "0" range of -3 to +5 V. The differential encoder inputs (DATA, notDATA; CL, notCL) expect RS-422 levels, with Signal "1" minimum at UP - 0.8 V and a typical current draw of 9 mA per channel. The 13 digital outputs are rated for a maximum of 300 mA total, with short-circuit protection built in.
