SSI encoder interface and diagnostic depth
The 6ES7352-5AH10-0AE0: This module integrates an SSI encoder interface with a 25-bit message frame, accepting DATA/notDATA and CK/notCK differential signals. The monoflop time is settable in four steps — 16, 32, 48, or 64 µs — letting you match the encoder read cycle to the PLC update window. Unshielded cable runs up to 100 m; shielded cable extends to 600 m. That 100 m unshielded limit is the one that bites on a factory floor with variable-frequency drive noise — budget shielded cable for any run past a welding cell. Diagnostic alarm coverage is broad: missing supply on 1L, 2L, 3L, MMC error, output overload (8), encoder supply overload, differential wire break, parameterization error, and SSI message frame overflow. Eight hardware interrupts are available for generation by the user program. For a line-side maintenance planner, the wire-break diagnostic alone saves hours of tracing a dropped encoder signal.
Output timing and switching limits
The 2-wire sensor output is rated typ. 1 A. Switching times: 0 to 1 at 50 mA is 0.6 µs, at 0.5 A is 1.0 µs; 1 to 0 at 50 mA is 1.7 µs, at 0.5 A is 1.5 µs. The maximum on lamp load is 10 Hz. These edges are fast enough for direct drive of a fast-acting solenoid valve on a pick-and-place gripper — the 1 µs rise at 0.5 A keeps the valve spool transition deterministic, holding takt time.
