What it is and what it reads
The Siemens 6ES7355-1VH10-0AE0 is an 8-channel analog input module for the S7-300 family, designed to read thermocouples (types B, J, K, R, S), Pt100 RTDs, voltage signals (0–10 V, ±80 mV), and current loops (0–20 mA, 4–20 mA). On a packaging line, it directly monitors seal-bar temperature, hot-melt tank temperature, and heater-zone feedback — the variety of TC types covers everything from high-temp B-type to general-purpose K-type. Power draw is 24 V DC from the backplane, with a typical loss of 5.5 W and a maximum of 6.9 W — check your S7-300 bus power budget if the rack is already loaded.
Dimensions and wiring notes
The module is 80 mm wide, 125 mm high, and 120 mm deep — standard single-wide S7-300 form factor. It sits in any slot on the rail, addressed via the backplane bus. Shielded cable runs up to 200 m for voltage and current signals, but only 50 m for thermocouple and ±80 mV inputs. Unshielded runs max out at 600 m for digital/logic links. Input ranges are parameterizable: 0–10 V, 0–20 mA, 4–20 mA, ±80 mV, and thermocouple types via software configuration. The module also reads 2-wire sensors and Pt100 in 4-wire mode.
