8-channel temperature controller for S7-300 racks
The Siemens 6ES7355-2SH00-0AE0 is an FM 355-2S temperature control module with 8 analog inputs, purpose-built for closed-loop temperature regulation on an S7-300 backplane. It accepts Pt 100 RTDs and thermocouple types B, E, J, K, R, and S — covering the vast majority of industrial temperature sensing from cryogenic to 1700 °C furnace work. The module draws its power from a 24 VDC supply (rated value 24 V) and dissipates up to 6.9 W, so budget that thermal load into the rack's ventilation — especially if the adjacent slots are also high-power analog or CPU modules.
Input flexibility — RTD, thermocouple, and millivolt
Each of the 8 channels can be configured for voltage (0 to +10 V), current (0 to 20 mA, 4 mA to 20 mA), or resistance measurement (240 Ω to 4 kΩ), with the thermocouple and Pt 100 ranges handled directly without external signal conditioners. The module also reads bipolar signals: -1.75 V to +11.75 V and -3.5 mA to +23.5 mA, making it usable for process transmitters that swing below zero on fault conditions. For thermocouple wiring, the maximum shielded cable run is 200 m, dropping to 50 m when using 80 mV range or thermocouple inputs — keep the cold-junction compensation reference junction close to the module for best accuracy.
Lifecycle reality — EOL hot stage
For a replacement path, evaluate the S7-1500-based temperature control modules (e.g., ET 200SP AI 8xRTD/TC) if a platform migration is feasible; otherwise, source this exact unit against your RFQ through our network.
Digital inputs accept 24 VDC signals with a '1' threshold of 13 to 30 V and typical draw of 7 mA per input. The module supports logic links and is fully parameterizable via the S7-300 configuration tool.
