CPU 412-2 for S7-400 — what it fits and what it does
The Siemens 6ES7412-2XK07-0AB0 is a CPU 412-2 for the S7-400 rack, handling 244 byte of process input and 244 byte of process output image. It supports all five IEC languages (LAD, FBD, STL, SCL, GRAPH) plus CFC for continuous-function chart engineering under STEP 7. The operating range is 0 °C to 60 °C, and the module is isolated from the backplane bus.
Communication and system functions — what the limits mean
This CPU has MPI and RS 485 interfaces onboard, plus PROFIBUS DP V1. The system functions (SFCs) and system function blocks (SFBs) for data record access are capped at 8 per interface for RDREC, WRREC, and RDSYSST, with a global limit of 32 across all external interfaces for RDREC and WRREC. DP topology read (SFC 103) is limited to 1 per interface. Forcing is supported, and routing works when the interface is active.

Physical dimensions and mounting
The module is 25 mm wide, 290 mm high, and 219 mm deep. It snaps onto the S7-400 rack and connects to the backplane bus. The FM (function module) capability is limited by the number of slots and number of connections in the rack.
