CPU for fault-tolerant systems
The Siemens 6ES7412-3HJ14-0AB0 is a CPU for the S7-400H fault-tolerant automation system, designed for redundant, high-availability control in continuous-process plants, power generation, or critical infrastructure where a single-point failure must not stop the line. It supports up to 4096 digital inputs and 4096 digital outputs, with a total of 8 system function blocks (SFBs) available for diagnostics, data record handling, and parameter assignment. Programming can be done in LAD, FBD, STL, SCL, GRAPH, CFC, and HiGraph, giving the engineering team flexibility across legacy and modern codebases.
System integration and I/O capacity
Module occupies a single slot, measuring 50 mm wide, 290 mm tall, and 219 mm deep. Communication is via MPI (max. 200 ms transmission time), RS 485, and routing is supported for multi-network access. Up to 10 connections are available via CP and PtP modules, though the exact count is limited by slot availability in the rack — refer to the S7-400H manual for the specific configuration. Forcing, retentive data storage, and preset values (120) are supported for commissioning and fail-safe operation.
