CPU for fault-tolerant systems
The Siemens 6ES7412-5HK06-0AB0 is a CPU for the S7-400H fault-tolerant automation system. It supports up to 4096 digital inputs and 4096 digital outputs, making it suitable for redundant control of safety-critical processes where a single failure must not stop the line. Programming is supported in CFC, FBD, LAD, SCL, STL, and GRAPH. The integrated PROFINET interface handles UDP and TCP/IP communication via loadable function blocks. The module measures 50 mm wide, 290 mm tall, and 219 mm deep — standard S7-400 form factor that fits a UR2 or UR2-H rack. MPI and RS-485 interfaces are onboard; point-to-point connections are limited by the number of slots and the backplane, as detailed in the fault-tolerant system manual.
Fieldbus and communication profile
The CPU supports DPV0 and DPV1 and PROFIBUS routing. It provides eight RDREC, eight WRREC, and eight / blocks for data record exchange. The DP topology function is available once. Forcing is supported, and the CPU can operate as a DP client. The isolated RS-485 interface ensures robust communication in electrically noisy industrial environments.
