CPU 414-2 for S7-400
The Siemens 6ES7414-2XG04-0AB0 is a CPU 414-2 for the S7-400 rack. It handles 244 byte inputs and 244 byte outputs, with a total of 32 blocks overall. The FM (function module) count is limited by the number of slots and number of connections, so plan your rack layout carefully — you cannot stack unlimited FM on the backplane. Programming languages include CFC, FBD, LAD, SCL, and STL, plus HiGraph for sequential control. MPI and RS 485 are on-board, and routing is supported. Forcing is available for commissioning. This CPU also acts as both client and server for data exchange.
Dimensions and mounting
The module is 25 mm wide, 290 mm tall, and 219 mm deep. That 25 mm width means it slots into a standard S7-400 rack without crowding adjacent slots — you can fit several in a row. Depth of 219 mm is typical for S7-400 CPUs; verify clearance behind the panel door.
Communication and diagnostics
On-board RS 485 and MPI are present. For PROFIBUS DP, the CPU supports up to 8 RDREC, 8 WRREC, 8, 8, 8 RDSYSST, 8, 8, 2, 1, 4, 1, and 2. That is a full set of DP V1 diagnostics and parameterization — useful for commissioning drives and remote I/O. For Ethernet, use a CP 443-5 Extended; the CP-based LAN connections are limited by the number of slots and connections. Point-to-point via CP 440 or CP 441 is also limited by slots or connections.
Lifecycle and sourcing
This CPU is a mature S7-400 part. No official lifecycle status is available, so treat it as a legacy item. It is sourced to order against an RFQ — we do not carry it on the shelf.
