Overview
The module draws 4.6 W from a 35 V supply, consumes 0.032 A, and has been RoHS compliant since 01-03-08. Its dimensions are 25 mm wide, 290 mm high, and 210 mm deep, weighing 650 g.
This module converts analog signals from thermocouples and other sensors into digital values for the S7-400 backplane. The 8 input channels are individually configurable for different thermocouple types or voltage/current ranges, allowing a single module to handle mixed sensor types on one rack. Parameterizable diagnostics are built in, enabling the CPU to read wire-break, overrange, and underrange conditions per channel. The module supports a 10 Hz integration frequency, suitable for filtering mains-frequency noise in industrial environments.
Applications
Typical installations include furnace temperature monitoring, kiln control, plastic extrusion barrel profiling, and chemical reactor temperature scanning where multiple thermocouples must be read by a single S7-400 rack. The wide range of supported thermocouple types makes it a universal fit for most process temperature loops.
