The MRP ring handles cable redundancy: if a trunk gets cut, the ring recovers and the line keeps running – no jam because a single cable failed. IRT keeps the PROFINET cycle deterministic, so zone-to-zone handoffs stay tight even with 50 devices on the ring. And with PROFIsafe, you can connect emergency stops and door interlocks straight to the CPU; the failsafe FBD blocks handle the logic without a separate safety PLC. DCP support means you can name each device on the network from the engineering tool – no manual IP keying on the line. The 32 kB process image handles a pile of photoeyes and motor-roller zones without reaching for an expansion rack.
