The Siemens 6ES7513-1FL00-0AB0 is a failsafe CPU — the F designation means it runs safety programs up to SIL 3 via PROFIsafe. It supports FBD and LAD with failsafe blocks, so you can wire safety logic directly in the same programming environment as the standard control. The CPU handles 32 kB of inputs and 32 kB of outputs, all mapped into the process image. PROFINET IRT and MRP ring redundancy

Communication modules and protocol support
The CPU accepts up to 6 communication modules (CMs or CPs) for PROFIBUS, additional PROFINET, or serial interfaces. That gives you flexibility if the application needs a legacy fieldbus or an extra Ethernet port — the modules snap onto the left side of the CPU and are configured in TIA Portal.
