DQ and MSO in one slot
The 6ES7522-1BH01-0AB0: This S7-1500 module serves dual duty as a standard digital output (DQ) and a motor starter output (MSO) — meaning a single slot handles both discrete valve/solenoid control and direct motor switching for small drives up to the MSO rating, without a separate contactor interface. Rated SIL 2 per IEC 62061, it fits into safety-related control circuits where the output must meet a quantified integrity level — the module itself carries the diagnostic coverage (wire-break and short-circuit detection are built in) to support the safety function without an external safety relay.
Switching performance and diagnostics
The output transitions from 0 to 1 in 100 µs max and from 1 to 0 in 500 µs max — fast enough for most discrete control loops but not for oversampling or PWM (neither is supported). Current-sourcing (PNP) topology with a minimum signal-1 voltage of L+ (-0.8 V) means the load sees nearly full rail voltage at the output; the module also reports wire-break and short-circuit conditions via diagnostic alarm and the red ERROR LED. Typical power loss is 2 W at 24 VDC — a modest thermal load for the enclosure, but the 35 mm width leaves room for adjacent modules without forced cooling in most cabinets.
Lifecycle and firmware readiness
Firmware version V1.1.0 is field-upgradable, and the module supports I&M data (I&M0 to I&M3) for asset tracking in larger plants. Hardware functional status from FS02 means the module meets the revision baseline for the S7-1500 system; prioritized startup and isochronous mode are both supported for time-critical applications.
