What it is and what it handles
This is the Siemens S7-1500 channel-isolated analog input module (6ES7531-7PF00-0AB0) that takes eight universal inputs: voltage, current, RTD, or thermocouple. It covers Pt100, Pt1000, Ni100, Cu10, and a dozen thermocouple types — B, C, E, J, K, N, R, S, T — but skips Type L. Both MSI (module-side isolation) and PTC sensor support are on the spec sheet, so you get galvanic separation for the field side and can connect PTC thermistors for motor thermal monitoring. For three-wire RTDs, the conductor compensation alternates with the measurement — that means a complete reading takes two module cycles. It’s not a high-speed point; plan your scan time accordingly if you’re using three-wire Pt100 on every channel.
Commissioning note: status and wiring
The RUN LED (green) and ERROR LED (red) give immediate field-side feedback. I&M data (I&M0 to I&M3) is present, so the module identifies itself to TIA Portal and supports maintenance records. Dimensions: 35 mm wide, 147 mm tall, 129 mm deep — standard S7-1500 form factor, snaps onto the DIN rail alongside other U-racks.
