Serial communication module for the S7-1500 backplane
The 6ES7541-1AD00-0AB0: The module provides hardware handshaking with RTS, CTS, DTR, DSR, RI, and DCD signals on RS232, so you can connect modems or devices that rely on flow control. It also offers diagnostic alarms, a wire-break detection function, and status LEDs for RUN, ERROR, RxD, and TxD.
Backplane power and physical fit
The module draws 50 mA from the S7-1500 backplane bus, with a typical power loss of 0.6 W. It mounts directly on the standard S7-1500 mounting rail and occupies one slot. Dimensions are 127 mm deep, 35 mm wide, and 147 mm high — matching the single-wide form factor of the S7-1500 series. Isolation between the backplane bus and the interface is tested at 707 V DC type test, which provides reasonable protection against ground loops and transient pickup common in industrial environments. Operating temperature range is 0 to 60 °C horizontally and 0 to 40 °C vertically, so it can sit in a warm cabinet near drive power stacks without forced cooling concerns.
