The Siemens 6ES7972-0BA70-0XA0 is a PROFIBUS bus connector with RS 485 interface, designed for Fast Connect insulation displacement termination of PROFIBUS cables to a station. It supports transfer rates from 9.6 kbit/s up to 12 Mbit/s, covering the full PROFIBUS DP speed range. The 90° cable outlet and compact 15.8 mm width make it suitable for tight panel layouts where cable strain relief is needed.
It connects to the PROFIBUS station via a 9-pin sub D connector, and the cable is terminated using integrated insulation displacement contacts for 2-core PROFIBUS Fast Connect installation cables. The integrated terminating resistor is switched on or off via a slide switch; when engaged, it also disconnects the outgoing bus segment — no external terminator needed. Rated IP20, so it is intended for use inside a control cabinet or enclosure.
