Physical fit and backplane loading
This is a compact single-width S7-1200 module — 75 mm deep, 30 mm wide, 100 mm tall — that snaps onto the standard 35 mm DIN rail alongside the CPU and other signal modules. It draws 0.15 A at 5 V from the backplane bus, which is well within the S7-1200 CPU's internal power budget; no external supply needed. The PROFIBUS interface is a 9-pin Sub-D socket (RS485) on the module face. Up to three CM 1242-5 modules can be installed per CPU, so a single S7-1200 can appear as three separate DP slaves on the same bus. IP20 rated — intended for a closed control cabinet, not a washdown environment.
