Panel fit and S7-1200 integration
The 6GK7277-1AA00-0AA0: The CSM 1277 is designed as a SIMATIC S7-1200 device — same 45 mm width, 100 mm height, 75 mm depth, and snaps onto a 35 mm top-hat DIN rail alongside the CPU and I/O modules. No separate bracket or backplane adapter needed; it shares the rail and the enclosure layout. Power comes from a 3-pole terminal block accepting 19.2 to 28.8 V DC. The module draws only 0.07 A maximum — that's 1.6 W heat dissipation, negligible in a crowded cabinet. No external power supply required beyond the 24 V bus already feeding the rack. IP20 rated, so it lives inside a sealed enclosure.
Unmanaged switch, no surprises
This is an unmanaged switch — no web interface, no SNMP, no VLAN configuration. It forwards frames at line rate on two ports: 10 Mbit/s and 100 Mbit/s, auto-negotiating. If your application requires managed features (port mirroring, redundancy, security policies), this is not the part. The MTBF is listed at 273 years — a reliability figure that reflects the simple, no-moving-parts design. For a wind-turbine nacelle or a conveyor line where an up-tower swap costs a full day, that number matters.
Hazardous-area and marine approvals
Carries ATEX II 3 G Ex nA II T4 (KEMA 08 ATEX 0003 X) for Zone 2 gas groups, plus FM3611 Class 1 Division 2 approval. Also holds marine type approvals from DNV, NK, LRS, and BV — so it passes for offshore substations and shipboard automation. EMC compliance to EN 61000-6-2 (immunity) and EN 61000-6-4 (emission). Safety listing per UL 508 and CSA C22.2 No. 142.
