What the Ratings Mean for Your Network
The 6GK7343-1EX30-0XE0: The module has an unmanaged switch inside — don't expect VLANs or SNMP write access — but it does support PROFINET IRT (isochronous real-time) on that switch, which is what matters for drives and motion control. Configuration is done through STEP 7 V5.4 SP2 or higher, or TIA Portal V11. The first interface runs 10/100 Mbit/s, so plan your backbone accordingly. Ring redundancy is hardware-based, not managed-switch RSTP, so it works with other PROFINET devices in a ring. Security basics are covered: IP-based ACL (but not for PLC/routing), MIB support for SNMP monitoring, and lock-down of non-required services. No login logging, though.
