PROFIBUS DP master for S7-400 racks
The Siemens 6GK7443-5DX04-0XE1 is a CP 443-5 Extended communications processor that connects a SIMATIC S7-400 station to PROFIBUS DP as a DP master, supporting cyclic and acyclic data exchange with up to 125 DP slaves per master. It draws 1 A at 5 V DC from the S7-400 backplane bus, dissipating 5 W, and fits a single-width slot in the rack — 25 mm wide, 290 mm tall, 210 mm deep.
Master capacity and system limits
The total number of CPs in an S7-400 station is capped at 10: up to 4 can operate as PROFINET IO controllers (CP 443-1 Advanced), and up to 10 can act as DP masters (CP 443-5 Extended). Each DP master handles up to 125 slaves, with 244 bytes of input and 244 bytes of output address range per slave. The module supports up to 14 connections per CPU, 54 with DP, 59 without DP, and 48 maximum connections overall.
It requires STEP 7 V5.4 SP4 or higher with NCM S7 for PROFIBUS for configuration, and the 9-pin Sub-D RS485 interface follows the PROFIBUS standard.
