Current-production, single-width S7-1500 comm module
The 6GK7545-1GX00-0XE0: On the software side, you need STEP 7 Professional V15.1 (TIA Portal) or higher to configure it – no backwards compatibility with earlier versions. The module supports DCP (device discovery), LLDP for topology detection, and SNMP v1/v3 for monitoring. A stateful inspection firewall is built in.
Network capabilities: static routing only, no dynamic protocols
This module is a layer-2 device with static IP routing, not a full layer-3 router. It does not support BGP, OSPFv2, RIPv1/v2, VRRP, OSPFv3 for IPv6, or any dynamic routing. If your network relies on OSPF or BGP, you need a different interface module. ACLs are also absent – the built-in stateful firewall is the only access control mechanism.
