The Siemens 6GT2700-6CE02-0AX0 is a SIMATIC RTLS transponder built on the RTLS4460T chipset, designed for the RTLS4000 real-time locating system using chirp spread-spectrum technology. It operates in the 2.4 GHz ISM band (2400–2480 MHz) and communicates via the IEEE 802.15.4a CSS protocol at a maximum data rate of 1000 kbit/s. This is not a standalone sensor or controller — it is a mobile tag that attaches to assets, tools, or personnel and reports its position to the RTLS4000 infrastructure. The 1000 m range figure applies to open-air line-of-sight conditions; real-world range inside a plant depends on obstructions, antenna placement, and whether an external antenna is used.
Physical Integration and Connectivity
It fastens with four M4 countersunk screws. All electrical connections go through a single 16-pin WR-MPC4 plug with crimp contacts. That connector carries five digital inputs (24 V), five digital outputs (max. 250 mA each), a CAN bus interface, and the 10–30 VDC supply input (max. 1.6 W). An RSMA female connector is provided for an external antenna. The accessory list includes the WR-MPC4 plug with crimp contacts, antenna cable, antennas, and a 2 A fuse — so the connector and antenna hardware are not in the box, but specified as part of the system bill of materials.
Memory and Configuration
Configuration data is stored in FLASH memory, designated as configuration memory. There is no backup battery on the product component. The transponder has three LEDs for status indication. Temperature tolerance is wide: -40 to +70 °C during storage, and the same range during read/write access and outside the read/write area. This covers cold warehouses and hot production floors without derating.
Because this is a specialized RTLS tag tied to the RTLS4000 ecosystem, it is not a commodity item stocked in high volume. The same part, different passport — genuine is genuine regardless of which Siemens region it ships from, but warranty terms may follow the distributor's region.
