The Siemens SIMATIC RF380R reader (order code 6GT2801-3AB20-0AX1) is a fixed-mount RFID read/write device operating at 13.56 MHz, designed for serial connection to control systems in ISO scan mode. It supports RF300-specific, ISO 15693, and ISO 18000-3 transponders (MDS Dxxx family), with a typical read access time of 0.13 ms per byte and a maximum transfer rate of 106 kbit/s over the radio interface. The IP67-rated housing (anthracite PA 12) withstands washdown, dust ingress, and vibration (200 m/s²) and shock (500 m/s²) per EN 60721-3-7 Class 7M2, making it suitable for assembly lines, conveyor gates, and automated material handling where coolant or cleaning agents are present. Range, connectivity, and mounting
Maximum read range is 200 mm, adjustable via transmission power in the reader settings — actual range depends on the transponder type. The reader connects via an M12 8-pin connector supporting RS422 (up to 1000 m cable) or RS232 (up to 30 m). It is not multitag-capable, so each read cycle resolves one transponder at a time.
