What it is and what it does
The Siemens 6GT2810-2AG80-1AX0 is a SIMATIC RF680L special-variant Smartlabel — a UHF RFID tag built for high-temperature exposure. It operates across 860 to 960 MHz, compliant with EPCglobal Class 1 Gen 2 and ISO 18000-63, and uses an NXP G2iM transponder chip with EEPROM memory. The tag is printable via thermal transfer and comes in a paper-based, silicon-free, beige label form factor measuring 110 x 70 x 0.4 mm. The headline feature is its heat resistance: the tag withstands permanent operation up to 85 °C, six hours at 200 °C, one hour at 220 °C, and short-term exposure up to 230 °C. Outside the read/write area, it survives storage from -40 °C to +230 °C. This makes it suitable for tracking assets through paint ovens, curing lines, or sterilization cycles where standard RFID labels fail. IP67 protection means the label resists dust ingress and temporary immersion — appropriate for washdown environments in food processing or outdoor logistics. The read range reaches up to 4 m, though this is reader-dependent and overrange is possible; consult the system manual for the specific RF600 reader setup.
Memory and data handling
The EPC memory is 96 bits (12 bytes), expandable to 256 bits (32 bytes). User memory is 512 bits (64 bytes), and TID memory is 208 bits (26 bytes), of which 112 bits (14 bytes) are user-programmable TID. The memory supports lock, unlock, kill, write protection, and password protection — useful for securing supply-chain data or preventing tag reuse. Multitag capability is supported, and the maximum transfer rate is 320 kbit/s, which suits high-speed conveyor or portal reads. The tag is designed for the SIMATIC RF600 system and is glued or screwed to the asset.
