The Siemens 6GT2811-5BA00-1AA0 is a SIMATIC RF620R UHF RFID reader from the RF600 family, operating in the 902 to 928 MHz FCC band with an integrated antenna. It communicates via an RS422 interface through an M12 8-pin connector, supporting the EPCglobal Class 1 Gen 2 / ISO 18000-6C protocol at a maximum transfer rate of 320 kbit/s. The integrated antenna provides a read range up to 5 m; extended ranges are possible per the RF600 System Manual. It is multitag-capable, with a typical read access time of 1 ms per byte and a write access time of 6.3 ms per byte.

The reader is powered at 24 V DC nominal (21.6 to 30 V DC range), drawing a maximum of 0.47 A and typically 0.395 A, with a minimum power consumption of 105 mW. The IP65-rated aluminum and ABS (GF20) housing withstands washdown environments, making it suitable for deployment on conveyor lines, dock doors, or sortation systems where dust and moisture are present. Operating temperature range is -25 to +55 °C, with a required 10-minute warm-up time below -20 °C. Storage and transport range is -40 to +85 °C. The reader withstands shock acceleration of 500 m/s² and vibrational acceleration of 200 m/s² per EN 60068-2-27 and EN 60068-2-6. Mounting options include 4 x M6 screws or VESA 100 with 4 x M4 screws. Dimensions are 252 mm height, 193 mm width, and 52 mm depth. The housing is silicon-free, and the reader is not IECEx certified. The RS422 interface supports cable runs up to 100 m.
