What it is and what it does
The Siemens 6GT2815-0BN20 is a pre-assembled coaxial cable for the SIMATIC RF600 system, purpose-built to connect a UHF antenna (type L20) to an RF600 reader. It is a fixed-length assembly, 20 m long, with a characteristic impedance of 50 Ω and a maximum rated voltage of 2000 V. The cable is terminated at both ends with R-TNC (female, straight) connectors, so it arrives ready to plug in — no field termination, no connector crimping, no impedance-matching guesswork. The dielectric is PE (polyethylene), and the shield is a braid of tin-plated copper wires. At 900 MHz — the center of the UHF RFID band — attenuation is 0.199 dB/m, so over 20 m the total line loss is about 4 dB. That matters for link budget: if your reader has a +30 dBm output, expect roughly +26 dBm at the antenna port after the cable. The cable jacket is black, halogen-free is not claimed, and it is flame-resistant per UL/NEC and CSA CMR/FT4 (cable only, not the plug).
Where it fits
This cable is designed for the SIMATIC RF600 ecosystem — specifically between an RF600 reader and an L20 antenna. Both ends are R-TNC (female, straight), so the reader and antenna must have R-TNC male ports. The cable is rated IP65, meaning the assembly (connectors included) is protected against dust ingress and low-pressure water jets — suitable for washdown areas, outdoor gantry installations, or conveyor-side mounting where splashes are routine. The operating temperature range is -40 to +85 °C, and installation temperature extends to -40 to +80 °C, so it can be pulled through cold environments without embrittlement.
