The Siemens 6GT2831-6BB00 is an access control reader from the SIMATIC RF1000 family, order code RF1170R. It reads ISO 14443 A/B (Mifare) and ISO 15693 (Legic Prime, Legic Advant) transponders through an integrated antenna. Power comes via Power over Ethernet or a separate 24 V supply through the RJ45 port. The IP65-rated front face means it mounts on the outside of a panel or door in a washdown or dusty environment — think entry gates, machine access points, or clean-room vestibules where the reader body sees the elements but the electronics stay sealed.
