What this cable is for
The 6GT2891-4UH20: This is a pre-assembled RS232 communication cable that links an RF1040R or RF1070R reader to an RF166C, RF170C, or RF18xC/CI interface module. It's a 4-core LiYCY cable, 2 m long, with a braided shield of tin-plated copper wires for noise rejection on the serial link.
Key ratings and what they mean for fit
Rated 300 V maximum — that's the insulation rating for the cable and its UL AWM listing (2464/2517 applies to the cable without plug). On an RFID reader line running at 24 VDC or similar low-voltage control power, this is well above the working voltage; the 300 V rating is about the cable's ability to coexist in a tray or panel with higher-voltage circuits without derating. The cable is resistant to water and mineral oil, and it's silicon-free — important if this runs through a washdown zone or near potting/painting lines where silicone contamination causes adhesion failures. It's not halogen-free, so check local fire-smoke requirements for enclosed spaces. Flame resistance per IEC 60332-1-2 means the cable won't propagate flame along a vertical run — standard for control cables inside cabinets or cable trays.
Connector and wiring detail
One end is an M12 female, 8-pole, straight connector; the other is a PicoBlade 51021 5-pole. That M12 end plugs directly into the reader; the PicoBlade end connects to the interface module's internal header. The 4 cores are color-coded per international standard, and the shield is a braided tin-plated copper construction — ground it at the reader end per usual RS232 practice.
