What it is and what it does
The Siemens 6GT2898-0EA00 is a highly flexible coaxial adapter cable within the SIMATIC RF300 family, designed to connect an HF antenna ANT 8 to a handheld unit (RF310M) via M8 connectors on both ends. The 0.14 m length is purpose-built for short, tight coupling between the handheld and the antenna — no excess coil to manage on the line. Rated for a maximum of 300 V with a characteristic impedance of 50 Ω, it matches the standard RF impedance for industrial RFID systems. The braided shield of tin-plated copper wires keeps radiated noise out of the signal path in electrically noisy environments like conveyor lines or packaging cells.
Deployment context and mechanicals
Both terminations are M8 male, 4-pin, straight — a common industrial RFID connector. The cable is halogen-free and silicon-free, which matters for clean-room or food-grade lines where outgassing or contamination is a concern. It is also flame resistant per IEC 60332-1-2, so it won't propagate a flame along a cable tray in a panel fire. The cable is rated for continuous flexing with a minimum bend radius of 75 mm, and can handle 3 million bending cycles — a high-flex rating for robotic or moving-gantry applications where the cable sees repeated motion. For single-bend installations the minimum radius drops to 22.4 mm; for multiple bends it is 44.8 mm. Operating, storage, transport, and installation temperature range is -40 to +80 °C, so it survives cold warehouses and hot cabinet interiors without derating.
Sourcing and lifecycle
The cable carries a UL/ETL listing at 300 V under UL style 1581, Sec. 1090 (H), which simplifies panel acceptance in North American installations. No separate UL mark chase needed.
