What this module is and what it does
The Siemens 6SL3120-1TE21-8AB0 is a SINAMICS Single Motor Module — a servo drive module that takes a 600 V DC bus input and delivers 400 V three-phase AC output at 18 A to a single servo motor. Internal air cooling keeps the heat out of the cabinet airflow, and the unit ships with the DRIVE-CLiQ cable included, so the communication link to the control unit is ready to terminate.
What the ratings mean for your application
The 18 A output rating at 400 V three-phase AC is the continuous current the module can deliver to the motor under rated conditions. For a typical servo application — say a feed axis on a machining center or a positioning axis on a packaging line — that current supports a motor in the 7–9 kW range, depending on duty cycle and peak demand. The 600 V DC input means it connects directly to a common DC bus in a SINAMICS S120 drive system, so it shares regenerative energy and braking across multiple axes.

Mounts in a standard SINAMICS S120 chassis or cabinet build. The DRIVE-CLiQ interface is the standard Siemens motion bus — plug the included cable into the Control Unit (CU) and the module is addressed automatically. Internal air cooling means no external fan or coolant plumbing; just ensure the cabinet has adequate airflow for the total heat load of all modules on the bus.
