DC-link supply for multi-axis S120 drives
The 6SL3130-7TE21-6AA4 is a SINAMICS S120 Active Line Module — it rectifies a 3-phase 380-480 V AC supply to a regulated 600 V DC bus, rated 27 A continuous output and 16 kW. This is not a standalone VFD; it feeds the DC link for one or more S120 Motor Modules in a multi-axis system. Booksize format with internal air cooling means it slots into a common 50 mm wide booksize frame alongside Motor Modules and a Control Unit. The DRIVE-CLiQ cable is included, so the module communicates position and status data back to the drive controller without a separate wiring run.
Active production — no obsolescence risk
Lifecycle status is Active, with a mature lifecycle stage — meaning Siemens continues to manufacture and support this module, and it has been in the field long enough that firmware quirks and application notes are well documented.
The 27 A DC output at 600 V sets the total current budget for all Motor Modules on the shared DC link. A common rule of thumb: sum the DC-link currents of all connected Motor Modules at their rated load — if that sum exceeds 27 A, either add a second Active Line Module or step up to a higher-current frame. The 16 kW rating corresponds to the regenerative braking capability: the module can return up to 16 kW to the AC supply during deceleration, which avoids a braking resistor in most applications. Booksize format with internal air cooling means the module draws cooling air through the bottom and exhausts at the top — allow 50 mm clearance above and below in the cabinet for airflow. The DRIVE-CLiQ interface uses standard RJ45-style connectors; cable length from the Control Unit to this module should stay under 100 m per Siemens topology guidelines.
