What the ratings mean for fit
The Siemens 6SL3200-6AM21-8BH0 is a G120P variable speed drive in the FSB frame size, rated for 7.5 kW power output and 18 A continuous output current on a 400 V supply. The 18 A figure is the continuous rating — the drive handles overloads of 110% for 57 seconds and 150% for 3 seconds every 300 seconds, so it can ride through short-duration load spikes common on pump and fan applications without nuisance tripping. Output frequency reaches 550 Hz, which covers high-speed spindle or centrifuge duty well beyond standard 50/60 Hz motor operation. IP55 means the enclosure is dust-protected and hose-down resistant — suitable for washdown areas, pump rooms, and outdoor installations where rain or condensation is a concern. The Filter B variant includes an integrated EMC filter, so it meets conducted emission limits for second-environment (industrial) networks per EN 61800-3 without an external filter box. That saves panel space and wiring time.
Communication and I/O
The drive ships with Modbus/RTU, RS485/USS, and BACnet MS/TP on board. PROFIBUS, PROFINET, and CANopen are optional via plug-in modules. That means it drops into a BACnet building-management network or a Modbus plant-floor SCADA system without a gateway. The I/O complement — 4 analog inputs, 2 analog outputs, and 6 digital inputs — is enough for a standalone pump or fan controller with feedback, setpoint, and interlock signals.
