Drive selection memo — 0.55 kW on a dusty line
The Siemens 6SL3210-1KE11-8AC0 is a SINAMICS G120C rated at 0.55 kW with 150% overload capability for 3 seconds, fed from 3-phase 380-480 VAC (+10/-20%, 47-63 Hz). That overload headroom matters when a conveyor or fan hits a momentary jam — the drive holds torque through the event instead of tripping on I²t. It carries an integrated Class A EMC filter, so it meets conducted emission limits for most industrial mains without an external filter block. The I/O complement — 6 digital inputs, 2 digital outputs, 1 analog input, 1 analog output — covers basic speed/start-stop control and feedback from a 4-20 mA transducer. Safe Torque Off (STO) is integrated, which means you can wire the safety relay directly to the drive without an external safety contactor for the stop function. That saves a DIN-rail slot and a set of power terminals.
Fieldbus and integration — CANopen on a compact frame
Fieldbus is CANopen, integrated on the control board — no option card required. The drive appears as a CANopen slave device; set the node ID via DIP switches or the commissioning software. The G120C family uses the same STARTER / Startdrive tooling as the larger SINAMICS units, so a single engineering project covers the line. Mechanical footprint is FSA: 196 mm high, 73 mm wide, 203 mm deep. That width fits a standard 73 mm slot on a DIN rail or backplate. IP20 / UL Open Type means it is intended for a clean, dry enclosure — not washdown, not outdoors. In a cement plant, that means the cabinet needs to be sealed against the dust; the drive itself is not sealed.
