What it is and what it does
The Siemens 6SL3210-1KE15-8UB1 is a SINAMICS G120C variable-frequency drive rated for 2.2 kW output on a 380-480 V three-phase supply, with a 150% overload capability for three seconds. That overload headroom means it can handle short-duration torque spikes from a conveyor start or a pump breakaway without tripping — a real advantage on a line where the load isn't a perfect match. It accepts 380-480 V 3AC at 47-63 Hz. The unfiltered variant requires an external line filter for strict EMC limits.
I/O and safety
The onboard I/O gives you six digital inputs, two digital outputs, one analog input, and one analog output — enough for basic speed reference and run/stop control without an extra I/O module. Safe-Torque-Off is integrated, so you can wire an emergency-stop circuit directly to the drive without a separate safety relay, saving DIN-rail space and wiring time. Fieldbus is built in as USS and MODBUS RTU, so it talks to a PLC over RS-485 without an option card. If you need PROFINET or EtherNet/IP, you'll add a Communication Board — but for many lines, the built-in MODBUS is enough.
Mounting and environment
The drive is IP20 / UL Open Type, meaning it's intended for a clean, dry electrical enclosure — not for washdown or outdoor exposure. The FSA frame measures 196 x 73 x 203 mm (HxWxD), so it fits in a standard panel with room for a 24 V supply alongside. External 24 V is required for the control logic; the drive doesn't derive it from the DC bus.
