Drive specs and what they mean for the cabinet
The Siemens 6SL3210-1KE22-6AP0 is a SINAMICS G120C drive rated for 11.0 kW output on a 380-480 VAC 3-phase supply, 47-63 Hz. The 150% overload for 3 seconds means it can handle short-duration peak torque demands — think a crusher jam or a conveyor restart under load — without tripping or requiring a frame size bump. That overload capability is the number that decides whether the drive holds during a real-world start, not the continuous kW alone. The integrated Class A EMC filter means it meets conducted emission limits for industrial environments out of the box — no external filter needed for most European or North American industrial panels. The IP20 / UL Open Type enclosure keeps it inside a cabinet; this is not a standalone washdown unit. Mount it in a clean, ventilated enclosure, and watch the 295 x 140 x 203 mm (HxWxD) footprint when laying out the gland plate and DIN rail.
Fieldbus and safety integration
PROFIBUS DP is integrated — no option card needed for that fieldbus. The Safe Torque-Off (STO) function is also on-board, which means you can wire a safety relay or safety PLC directly to the drive without a separate safety module. For a controls integrator, this simplifies the safety circuit separation: STO removes torque, but the drive stays powered, so the safety chain is clean and the drive can signal its status back over PROFIBUS. The I/O complement — 6 digital inputs, 2 digital outputs, 1 analog input, 1 analog output — covers basic speed reference and run/stop control without an extra terminal block. If the application needs more I/O or a second fieldbus, the G120C family accepts plug-in option modules.
