Drive selection memo
The Siemens 6SL3210-1KE23-2AC1 is a SINAMICS G120C variable-frequency drive rated for 15.0 kW continuous power with a 150% overload capability for 3 seconds — enough to handle a loaded conveyor start or a pump breakaway torque without oversizing the frame. Input range is 380-480 VAC three-phase, 47-63 Hz, with an integrated Class A EMC filter, so it meets European conducted-emission limits without an external filter box on most industrial lines. The IP20 / UL Open Type enclosure is panel-mount only — it needs a clean, dry cabinet, not a washdown floor location. Safe Torque Off is integrated, which means the drive can be safely disabled through a safety PLC or hardwired safety relay without an external contactor — a common requirement for guarding zones on packaging or material-handling lines. The I/O complement is six digital inputs, two digital outputs, one analog input, and one analog output, enough for basic speed reference and feedback on a standalone machine.
Integration notes
Frame size FSC measures 295 x 140 x 203 mm (H x W x D). The drive requires an external 24 V supply for the control electronics — the power section is self-powered from the DC bus, but the logic board and I/O need a separate 24 VDC feed. CANopen is integrated on the standard unit, so no option card is needed for that fieldbus; for PROFINET or EtherNet/IP, a separate communication module is required.
