Power Module PM230 — what it is and where it fits
The Siemens 6SL3210-1NE17-7AL0 is a SINAMICS G120 Power Module PM230 with an integrated Class A EMC filter, rated for 380-480 V 3 AC input at 47-63 Hz. In low-overload duty it delivers 3 kW, supporting 150% overload for 3 seconds, 110% for 57 seconds, and 100% for 240 seconds — a profile sized for pump, fan, and conveyor applications where peak torque is brief. The IP20 enclosure means it mounts inside a panel; the FSA frame size (196 x 73 x 165 mm) fits a standard DIN-rail footprint alongside other G120 modules. No Control Unit is included — this is the power stage only, released for CU240B/E-2 or CU230P-2 Control Units with firmware V4.4 or higher.
Load profile and derating
The low-overload rating defines the continuous and short-term current capability: 3 kW continuous, with 150 % for 3 seconds, 110 % for 57 seconds, and 100 % for 240 seconds. This suits variable-torque loads like centrifugal pumps and fans where the peak demand is during acceleration only. Ambient temperature range is 0 to +40 °C for low-overload operation — above that, derate per the thermal curve. The integrated Class A filter meets EN 61800-3 for conducted emissions in the first environment (residential or light industrial), so no external filter is needed for most installations.
Panel integration and wiring
The FSA frame (196 x 73 x 165 mm) is the smallest in the PM230 family, designed for DIN-rail mounting in a control cabinet. The IP20 rating means it is not sealed against dust ingress or washdown — it belongs in a clean, dry enclosure. Power wiring is via screw terminals on the front face; the integrated filter occupies no additional DIN space. No Control Unit or operator panel is included, so you will need to order the matching CU separately. The PM230 does not support safety functions — if your application requires Safe Torque Off, select a PM240 or PM250 instead.
