What this PM230 power module is and what it does
The Siemens 6SL3210-1NE21-0AL1 is a SINAMICS G120 Power Module PM230 with an integrated Class A EMC filter, rated for 380-480 V 3 AC at 47-63 Hz. In low-overload duty it delivers 4 kW with a 150% overload for 3 seconds, 110% for 57 seconds, and 100% continuous over 240 seconds — a typical pump/fan profile that lets the drive ride through short-duration load spikes without tripping.
Integration constraints — what fits, what doesn't
This is the PM230 variant, released for CU240B/E-2 and CU230P-2 control units running firmware V4.4 or higher. The module ships without a Control Unit or operating unit — you supply one of those CU families separately. The FSB frame size measures 292 x 100 x 165 mm (HxWxD) and mounts on a standard DIN rail inside an IP20 enclosure. Panel space is tight: the 100 mm width leaves room alongside a line reactor or braking resistor in a 600 mm wide cabinet. The integrated Class A filter meets EN 61800-3 first environment (restricted distribution) limits for conducted emissions. For second environment (industrial) installations, no external filter is needed. The PM230 supported no safety functions — no STO, no SS1 — so if your application requires safe torque off, step up to the PM240-2 or PM250 series with a compatible safety-capable CU.
