What it is and what it does
The Siemens 6SL3211-1PE21-8UL0 is a SINAMICS Power Module PM240-2 — the power stage of a modular drive system, requiring a separate Control Unit (CU) to run. It's unfiltered and carries an integrated braking chopper, so you can dump regenerative energy into an external braking resistor without an add-on module. The unit is rated for 380-480 V 3 AC, ±10%, 47-63 Hz. Two overload duty cycles define its real-world capacity. At high overload (HO), it delivers 5.5 kW with 200% for 3 s, 150% for 57 s, and 100% for 240 s, with ambient up to +50 °C. At low overload (LO), it delivers 7.5 kW with 150% for 3 s, 110% for 57 s, and 100% for 240 s, but ambient is limited to +40 °C. That HO rating is what matters for a pump or fan that needs starting torque; the LO rating covers a constant-torque conveyor running near full nameplate.
Mounting and integration notes
Frame size FSB: 345 x 154 x 171 mm (HxWxD). Degree of protection IP20-PT — protected against solid objects >12 mm but not sealed against moisture, so it goes in a clean, dry enclosure or panel, not on the machine frame exposed to washdown. No Control Unit or operator panel included; you supply those separately. The unit requires CU firmware V4.6 or later.
