What the 250 kW rating means on a pump/fan drive
The 6SL3220-3YE54-0AP0: This SINAMICS G120X is rated for 250 kW at 110% overload for 60 seconds and 100% continuous for 240 seconds. That 110% ceiling matters when a pump starts against a closed discharge valve or a fan has to clear a stalled impeller — the drive holds the torque through the stall without tripping on current limit. The 100% continuous rating at 240 seconds means it can sit at full load all day in a process that cycles every four minutes, like a batch transfer pump. The input tolerance of +10/-20% covers the sag you get at the end of a long feeder in a plant.
Panel fit and environmental rating
Frame size FSG with IP20 / UL open type protection — the drive is intended for a clean, dry electrical enclosure where no one touches live parts. The packaging dimensions of 395 x 1,185 x 608 mm give you the shipping crate size; the actual drive footprint is smaller but still requires side clearance for airflow. Ambient temperature range is -20 to +45 °C, so it lives inside a conditioned panel room or a well-ventilated cabinet, not outdoors. Painting class 3C2 means the enclosure coating withstands moderate humidity and some corrosive atmosphere — typical for a food plant or a warehouse, not a chemical scrubber area.
Fieldbus and operator interface
Comes with an Intelligent Operator Panel (IOP) and integrated PROFIBUS DP. The IOP gives you plain-text diagnostics and parameter access without a laptop — a lifesaver when you are commissioning a line at 2 AM and the motor won't turn. PROFIBUS DP is the fieldbus, so it talks to a S7-300/400 or ET 200S master natively; no gateway needed. No IO expansion module is included — the basic drive has the IOP and PROFIBUS, but if you need additional digital or analog I/O beyond what the drive provides, you order the expansion separately.
Compliance and regulatory documentation
RoHS compliant since 01-07-06 and REACH Article 33 duty to inform applies — the product contains lead (CAS 7439-92-1) above 0.1% w/w. Product class B means return restricted — contact your Siemens partner for RMA. This is standard for large drives; keep the original packaging for any return.
