15 kW at 500-690 V — the high-voltage pump-and-fan drive
The Siemens 6SL3220-3YH28-0UP0 is a SINAMICS G120X variable frequency drive rated for 15 kW continuous output on a 500-690 V three-phase supply, ±10% tolerance, 47-63 Hz. This puts it squarely in the high-voltage segment — think 690 V industrial networks common in European process plants, mining conveyors, and marine auxiliary systems where a 400 V drive would need a step-up transformer. It delivers 110% overload for 60 seconds and 100% for 240 seconds, so it handles the starting torque of a centrifugal pump or fan without tripping, but it is not rated for the constant-torque overload profile a conveyor or extruder would demand. The overload duty is the spec that decides fit here, not the nameplate kW.
Frame FSD, IP20, unfiltered — panel integration constraints
The drive ships in frame size FSD with IP20 / UL open-type protection. That means it is intended for a clean, dry electrical enclosure — no washdown, no dust-laden air. The unfiltered variant lacks an internal EMC filter, so the installer must budget for an external line reactor or sine-wave filter if the installation must meet EN 61800-3 Category C2 or C3 conducted emissions limits. The packaging footprint is 305 x 545 x 430 mm — plan the backplate real estate and the gland plate entry accordingly. The drive includes an Intelligent Operator Panel (IOP) for local parameterisation and diagnostics, plus an integrated PROFIBUS DP fieldbus interface. No IO expansion module is included — if you need additional digital or analogue I/O beyond what the G120X base unit provides, that is a separate order line.
Active lifecycle — no LTB watch needed
The product class is flagged as return-restricted (class B), meaning Siemens controls the return channel — not a concern for new procurement, but something to note if you are stocking a spare for a line that cannot afford downtime. RoHS compliance dates from July 2006, and REACH Article 33 information is available on request. For a BOM freeze or a panel-builder project, this drive is a safe line item — no imminent replacement cycle, no cross-reference to chase. The export control classification is AL: N / ECCN: N, so it ships without an export licence under most regimes.
