Control unit for G120 drives — I/O and fieldbus in one package
The Siemens 6SL3243-0BB30-1CA3 is a SINAMICS G120 Control Unit CU230P-2 CAN, the brains for a G120 power module. It integrates CANopen natively — no option card needed for that bus — and carries a fixed I/O set: 6 digital inputs, 3 digital outputs, 4 analog inputs, and 2 analog outputs, plus one motor temperature sensor input. Two auxiliary power supplies (10 V DC and 24 V DC) are onboard for encoder or sensor feed, and a 24 V DC input powers the control logic. USB and MMC interface are present for commissioning and data backup.
What the I/O means on a drive line
The 6 DI / 3 DQ set handles basic start/stop, speed presets, and fault reset without a separate PLC I/O slice — useful for standalone conveyor or pump control. The 4 AI / 2 AQ accept 0-10 V or 4-20 mA setpoints and return actual speed or current. The motor temperature sensor input (KTY84 or PTC) allows direct thermal protection, eliminating an external relay. All I/O is referenced to the 24 V DC control supply, so keep the power supply sized for the total load.
IP20 rated — intended for a clean, enclosed cabinet. Mounts directly onto the SINAMICS G120 Power Module via the internal interface; no separate DIN-rail footprint. The USB port faces forward for quick commissioning access; the MMC slot accepts a standard memory card for parameter cloning across multiple drives.
