What this drive is and what it does
The Siemens 6SL3540-6DF71-0RH2 is a distributed servo drive from the SINAMICS S120M family, frame size AH48. It delivers a holding torque of 1.3 Nm at a rated speed of 3000 rpm, supplied from a DC 600 V bus. The 20-bit absolute encoder provides position feedback for closed-loop motion control without a separate encoder cable to the controller. The drive is rated IP65 over the body and IP67 at the shaft end, so it withstands washdown and wet environments directly on the machine frame without an extra enclosure. The integrated holding brake holds the motor shaft at zero speed when power is removed — essential for vertical-axis loads that must not drift. Mounting configurations include IM B5 (flange), IM V1 (vertical shaft up), and IM V3 (vertical shaft down), giving flexibility for gearbox or direct-coupling layouts. Natural-air cooling means no fan or external air supply is needed; derating applies in high-ambient or restricted-flow installations.
