What this drive is and where it fits
The Siemens 6SL3542-6DF71-0RA2 is a SINAMICS S120M distributed servo drive in the AH48 frame size, rated for 2.5 Nm continuous torque at 3000 RPM nominal speed, powered from a DC 600V bus. It carries a 20-bit absolute encoder for position feedback and uses natural air cooling — no fan, so no moving parts to fail in dusty or washdown environments. The IP65-rated body and IP67-rated shaft end mean it handles high-pressure spray and temporary submersion at the shaft, which makes it a fit for food-and-bev, packaging, or material-handling lines where washdown is routine. No holding brake is fitted on this variant; if you need a brake, that is a different order code in the S120M family.
Mounting and integration notes
The drive supports multiple mounting orientations — IM B5 (flange), IM V1 (vertical shaft up), and IM V3 (vertical shaft down) — so it adapts to the mechanical layout of your machine frame. The shaft is supplied with a fitted key, tolerance N, which is the standard clearance fit for most couplings and pulleys. Natural air cooling means you do not need to leave clearance for a fan intake, but the body still needs free air around it for convection; do not box it in tight without checking the thermal derating curve in the manual.
