Distributed servo-drive for machine-tool and handling axes
The Siemens 6SL3542-6DF71-0RG1 is a SINAMICS S120M AH48 distributed servo-drive that integrates motor and drive electronics into a single IP65-rated housing — no separate cabinet drive needed for each axis. Rated output torque is 2.5 Nm at a nominal speed of 3000 rpm, fed from a DC 600V bus. The absolute encoder provides 20-bit position feedback, enough for precision indexing and synchronous motion in machine-tool or packaging lines. Natural air cooling keeps the enclosure sealed at IP65, so the unit withstands washdown and coolant spray on the machine frame. The plain shaft (no holding brake) means the load must be self-locking or externally braked if vertical-axis hold is required.
Mounting and integration notes
Mounting configurations include IM B5 (flange), IM V1 (vertical shaft up), and IM V3 (vertical shaft down) — the same flange pattern as standard servo motors, so it bolts directly to a gearbox or machine frame. The DC 600V input connects to the shared SINAMICS S120 DC-link bus; the 20-bit absolute encoder cable runs back to the control unit. No holding brake means the motor shaft is free to rotate when unpowered — plan for external braking if the axis is vertical.
