What this drive is and where it lands
The Siemens 6SL3542-6DF71-0RG2 is a distributed servo-drive from the SINAMICS S120M family, frame size AH48. It delivers 2.5 Nm rated torque at 3000 RPM from a DC 600V input bus, with a 20-bit absolute encoder for position feedback. Natural air cooling keeps the enclosure simple — no fan to fail on a washdown line.
IP65/IP67 — what that means on a servo
The motor body carries IP65 protection; the shaft end seals to IP67. That means the drive survives direct hose-down and temporary immersion at the shaft exit — a real requirement on food, beverage, or washdown conveyor sections where standard servos would pull moisture through the seal. The plain shaft (no keyway) and no holding brake suit applications where the load holds itself at rest or where a separate brake is mounted externally.
Mounting flexibility and cooling
Rated for IM B5 (flange-mounted), IM V1 (shaft-down vertical), and IM V3 (shaft-up vertical) orientations — so it fits gearbox adapters, direct-couple foot mounts, or vertical-axis stations without derating. Natural air cooling means no cooling ducts or forced-air clearance needed around the housing, but the ambient temperature still governs the continuous duty curve; check the thermal limit if boxing it into a tight enclosure.
